This is the latest version of knobs we created for the Zoom F8 and F8n field recorders.
Over the last several years, we have sold many hundreds of sets of these knobs to customers all over the planet. They have been refined with feedback from sound engineers and enhanced as the manufacturing technology gets better.
This version replaces all other versions we sell. Each knob has three colors in one piece (no longer multiple pieces so much smoother and stronger). There is the outer color (red / yellow / blue / green / white / orange / purple / grey), the index mark is black, and the inner color is glow-in-the-dark.
The existing knobs on the recorder are not removable so the interior of these replacement knobs are designed to fit perfectly over the existing ones and are secured with special double-stick tape (we supply you with a strip that you must cut into smaller pieces - use tweezers for easier application).
You can choose from 4 different color schemes:
(1) Standard 8-color - this is the most popular choice and provides you with 8 different colors to code the channels to corresponding colors on your other equipment such as wireless lavs, booms, plant mics, etc.
(2) 4-color - this choice provides you with 2 each of 4 colors (red / yellow / blue / green) and is designed for engineers that want to code 2 channels with the same color - perfect for stereo pairs or dual-channel backup recording styles
(3) All-black - this choice provides you with knobs that are all black on the exterior and index mark with a glow-in-the-dark interior - designed for engineers that simply want the glow and grip features and do not want color-coding
(4) Custom - You can choose the exact colors you want for each knob - perfect if you are recording ambisonics or other special situations - simply let us know the colors (you can choose from any of the colors above in addition to pink, silver, gold or copper)
Each set comes with 8 knobs in the color scheme you choose and a strip of mounting tape. SImply cut a small strip of the tape just large enough to cover the existing knob, remove the liner and apply with tweezers, press new knob into place. They will be secure but are easily removed without damage. When working in dark conditions, simply charge the knobs with a flashlight before the take and the knobs will be luminous for a while.
