With the kit you get 2 BCD encoders. A BCD encoder allows you to elegantly control the seven segment display. With 4 inputs and 7 outputs. The IC included is configured perfectly with the seven segment displays in which it takes a binary value and converts it perfectly to the number that should be displayed on the SSD.
This kit includes 12 pieces. It has single digit seven segment displays, all the way up to a 4 digit seven segment display. A good example of a real world product that uses a 4 digit seven segment display is a digital clock.
